Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programs are initiatives that aim to improve the health and well-being of children and families affected by HIV/AIDS.

OUR PROGRAMMES

Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s)

 The Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) are a series of eight, time- bound goals for development, that seek to address issues of poverty, education, gender equality, health and the environment, in areas termed as less developed, or developing. These targets are planned to be achieved by the year 2015. The idea was agreed upon by the international community at the United Nations millennium summit, held in New York at the beginning of the new millennium precisely September 2000.  In essence, the basis of the MDGs stand upon the fact that there should be an upward review of development within less developed, or developing countries, an ideal aimed at balancing development between the North and South, or more commonly, between the developed and developing (or underdeveloped) nations.

In Nigeria, the MDG projects are funded primarily from the Paris debt club relief gains and it is coordinated by the office of the senior special assistant to the president on the MDGs (OSSAP-MDGs) in association with international and local development partners

• Office of the Senior Special Adviser to the President on MDGs – (OSSAP-MDGs)
• United Nation Development Programme – UNDP

RESULTS

• Provides information to guide the correlation of the strategic priorities of the MDGs, NEED/SEEDS
• Provide feedback on the translation of planning priorities to actual projects
• Provide indication whether the intervention have had the intended impact towards achieving the MDGs

OBJECTIVES

• Ensure that resources voted for MDGs projects and programs are fully channeled to the purposes intended by identifying all leakages, diversions, tolls and bottlenecks;
• Ensure that the approved MDAs implementation plans for MDGs projects and programs are strictly adhered to, especially relating to coverage, quality, outputs and outcomes at local level;
• Demonstrate transparent use of government resources especially the Paris Club Debt Relief Gains (DRG), to Nigerians and the International community to help leverage additional domestic and external resources.
• To obtain first hand information on the benefits of the projects to the local communities.
• To ascertain the level of community involvement in the projects from its conception to the execution stage.
• To find out if the projects are serving the purposes they were intended for
